About the artwork
A secluded, light-filled space nestled within the native bushland near my home in Margaret River. I pass by it on my regular walks, always drawn to its quiet presence. Yet I have never stepped inside, feeling somehow that it belongs solely to the light as it lingers there.
About the artist
Jill Bryant has been creating and exhibiting artworks for more than 20 years, with her work collected throughout Australia. Over the past seven years, she has specialised in loose, expressive watercolours inspired by the coastal landscapes and waterways of the places she has called home. Her paintings are deeply rooted in a fascination with light and its ever-changing interplay within the natural environment. Through luminous washes and atmospheric detail, Jill seeks to capture the warmth, tranquillity, and quiet beauty of these landscapes, inviting the viewer to experience a sense of calm and connection within each piece.
'Jill has the most amazing way with watercolour. It’s not an easy medium to use, yet she expertly depicts beautiful local landscapes with accuracy and whimsy, allowing the medium to show off WA’s beautiful natural light and colour. Jill’s works have a magical feel, and we love her presentation of work; the watercolour pieces are mounted to board, sealed with a wax, and framed in a stunning oak timber that really grounds and shows off the work.’
