'Post Peloton Catchup’ by Myra Staffa
Mixed media drawing on paper

About the artwork
The acrylic paintings in this exhibition are part of a body of work inspired by a holiday Myra took to the Greek Island of Skopelos in mid-2025. Myra made numerous drawings and reference photos on location. When she returned to her studio in Australia, she developed these initial ideas into works on canvas. This creative process of being inspired by a particular place or a scene and then fully realising it back in the studio, is typical of this artist’s practise.
In contrast, the café scene drawings were only envisaged as being drawings in their own
right without, the intention of going beyond her sketchbooks. These drawings were part of a mindful morning ritual of making observations of the world around her while she enjoyed a coffee that kickstarted her day. Myra has used a variety of media to depict the familiarity of the café scenario.
