'A Quiet Moment between two Friends' by Kim Hawks
Joint compound and acrylic on canvas
51 x 62 cm
About the artwork:
This body of work is a celebration of the feeling of spring – When life starts to open up again. The warmer days, longer afternoons and little moments that make you want to slow down and stay outside a little longer.
Each painting captures a small escape – a picnic with friends, a quiet afternoon in the sun, a good book, delicious food and the simple pleasures of having nowhere else to be.
There’s a sense of nostalgia throughout the collection – a longing for carefree days where time feels less important and being present is enough.
Through vibrant colours and playful pattern, Kim wanted to capture that feeling of emerging from winter and allowing yourself to enjoy life again as the sun starts to warm and colourful flowers bloom again
