About the artwork:

Samara's paintings are rooted in a life lived close to nature. Her distinctly detailed style is her way of appreciating the world and to remind the viewer that every flower, leaf, pebble, and blade of grass is sacred and an integral part of the bigger picture.

This collection can be summed up by one of her artwork titles "Love is in the details". Hundreds of hours were spent with tiny brushes adding many layers of colour, depth and detail. The aim is for the viewer to feel like they could always see something new, just like it feels to sit peacefully in nature.

"My process begins in the bush- taking notes, quick sketches, photos, and collecting fallen branches and leaves to take back to the studio. All the landscapes lean towards realism but are composed in my imagination, trying to capture a memory or the mood of a particular time."

About the artist:

Raised in the Perth Hills, Samara's love of landscapes began as a child bushwalking through the local trails with a sketchbook.

After studying Fine Art at the University of Western Australia, she spent time travelling and working assorted creative jobs before moving back to the hills to raise her family. The last few years Samara has spent working on commissions, selling prints of her work through the ZigZag Cultural Centre, and establishing "Everlastings Studio". She's been a finalist in several Art Awards and is currently working on an artwork commissioned by the Perth Observatory in Bickley.
