'Dreamer of Dreams' by Stephanie Perrins
Acrylic and oil on canvas

About the artwork
I often imagine each subject as someone creative or deeply expressive in their own way: the busker encountered in a foreign city, a meaningful conversation with a friend, or a familiar figure from childhood. They reflect the capacity we all have to inspire, influence, and leave lasting impressions on one another through seemingly ordinary moments of connection.
Through colour, texture, and expressive mark-making, I aim to capture not only a likeness, but a feeling — a sense of warmth, nostalgia, curiosity, or quiet resilience. Many of the works are named after songs or poems, allowing music and literature to become part of the emotional landscape of the piece. These particular works take their titles from lines within Arthur O’Shaughnessy’s 1873 poem Ode, a tribute to dreamers, artists, and those who shape the world through imagination, creativity, and human connection.
About the artist
Stephanie Perrins is a Perth-based artist working on Whadjuk Noongar land. With a background in graphic design and over a decade of experience in the creative industry, her practice has evolved into a deeply intuitive exploration of colour, texture, and memory.
Her work is inspired by a love of travel and a strong connection to place, often drawing on memories of experiences and moments to create pieces that feel transportive and emotive. Rather than documenting specific locations or objects, Stephanie captures the essence of a place or memory - inviting the viewer to connect with a sense of stillness, nostalgia, and quiet beauty.
