About the artwork
‘This body of work is inspired by time spent in the Pilbara region of WA. Through abstracted forms, the paintings explore the rhythm of the land; from mineral-rich rock to white gums, muted green foliage, and quiet waterholes.
Each piece begins with fluid ink washes, allowing organic movement to unfold intuitively. Layers of acrylic are then built to create structure, before finishing with oil pastel to bring richness, depth, and a tactile quality. This layered process reflects the landscape itself; weathered, complex, and deeply grounded. Rather than depicting the land directly, these works capture a sense of memory and feeling; the heat, openness, and quiet presence of place.’
About the artist
Stephanie Perrins is a Perth-based artist working on Whadjuk Noongar land. With a background in graphic design and over a decade of experience in the creative industry, her practice has evolved into a deeply intuitive exploration of colour, texture, and memory.
Her work is inspired by a love of travel and a strong connection to place, often drawing on memories of experiences and moments to create pieces that feel transportive and emotive. Rather than documenting specific locations or objects, Stephanie captures the essence of a place or memory - inviting the viewer to connect with a sense of stillness, nostalgia, and quiet beauty.
