About the artwork

Lauren's paintings are intimate studies of ballet dancers captured away from the stage, in rehearsal, in preparation, and in moments of anticipation. 

Working exclusively in oil on paper and using a monochromatic indigo palette, Lauren creates scenes that feel suspended in time, evoking the softness and atmosphere of memory. 

Inspired by the dramatic tonal qualities of the Old Masters and her deep passion for the classical arts, her work explores beauty, discipline and vulnerability. Through a contemporary lens, Lauren brings a traditional art form into intimate, atmospheric moments that invite the viewer to look beyond the spectacle and into the world behind the curtain. 

About the artist

Lauren Tait is a Perth-based Australian artist and classically trained musician whose creative practice is deeply rooted in a lifelong appreciation of the classical arts.

Having studied under a mentor who helped shape her artistic journey, Lauren has spent the past 20 years developing her distinctive painting practice and has now begun exhibiting her work.
