About the work

Joia’s vessels sit in the space between presence and use. Each piece is shaped slowly and carved by hand, allowing texture and form to emerge through repetition and touch. The surfaces hold depth and shadow, and light moves across them differently throughout the day. At times they hold flowers or rituals. At other times they remain unfilled, carrying their own sense of weight and stillness. Rooted in an instinct to gather and place, the work honours the quiet gestures that bring meaning to everyday life. These vessels and objects become steady points within a room, encouraging pause, presence and appreciation.

About the artist

Joia is a ceramic artist based in Fremantle/Walyalup, creating hand-built and wheel-thrown vessels that explore carved textures, form, and the quiet spaces they hold. Self-taught and intuitively led, her practice has become a deeply grounding process. Drawing from natural textures, botanical forms, and everyday rituals, Joia’s approach to clay is both tactile and intentional. Her work reflects a desire to create objects that feel considered, timeless, and present in the home.
