About the artist:

Australian photographer Annie Lila is known for her ability to capture real-life stories and her unwavering love for life. The optimistic yet grounded lens through which Annie see’s the world brings a much needed sense of awe to the spaces she inhabits. Captured through her photography she possess the ability to enliven a spark within us all. She tells a uniquely Australian story and is always inspired to create in ways that are beneficial for her whole ecosystem, giving back to her community and creating consciously for the planet. Annie acknowledges the Menang Noongar people, the Traditional Custodians of the land on which she works and plays who have cared for the land, river and seas for thousands of years.

About the photographic collection:

This series in an excerpt from Annie’s first solo exhibition Anything Butt. Photographed across Australia, from the Mid North coast of NSW to the Abrolhos Islands this body of work leans into the idea that humans are not separate from nature, but made of it. With a deep connection to the ocean herself, Annie captures fellow water women where they feel most comfortable, the big blue. Anything Butt is a celebration of body and freedom. It serves as a reminder that we are no different from the trees, the animals on land and in the sea - a call to love and protect the fragile environment we live.
