'The days are getting warmer' by Arabella Casey-Sinclair
$400.00
Acrylic on cotton canvas
25 x 25 cm
About the artwork:
This collection draws heavily on Arabella's experiences growing up in Perth, spending summer days at her grandparents' house and gathering backyard posies. In these works she combines the vibrant colours and native flora of neighbourhood gardens with stylised detail reminiscent of heirloom and vintage textiles, embroidery and pattern found long ago in many of our grandmothers' kitchens.
Through the use of these joyful colours and historic domestic elements, Arabella's work seeks to create a sense of connection and quiet familiarity amongst viewers, one where the feeling of home is not tied to a physical place but from stories made like a patchwork of the everyday moments, colours, objects and memories of those with whom we share our spaces.
About the artist:
Arabella Casey-Sinclair is a Leederville based artist creating vibrant, joyful works inspired by a connection to home, our local environment and shared social histories.
Working primarily with acrylic and ink, Arabella has developed her creative practice gradually over the past five years alongside her professional career and motherhood. Her work typically features shared historical, architectural or domestic details, and her floral compositions are often influenced by the posies gathered by her young daughters on family walks through WA neighbourhoods and bushlands.
